SYMMES TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A Tri-state paramedic treated himself after a stranger allegedly stabbed him while he was standing in line at a gas station, News 5's Juliette Vara reported.
Police said 36-year-old Michael Sandige was in line at the Speedway store at 11051 Montgomery Road Monday evening when 30-year-old Melissa Flannery allegedly stabbed him from behind in the neck and chest.
Sandige, a Tri-Health paramedic, was able to get out of the gas station and get to his ambulance to treat his injuries.
The other paramedic working with Sandige drove him to Bethesda North Hospital. Sandige was treated and released.
The attack was completely unprovoked and Sandige did not know his attacker, police said.
A witness helped restrain the attacker until police arrived.
Flannery, from Carrollton, Ky., was charged with felonious assault. She is due in court Tuesday.
